Treatments of Asthma & Allergies
Conquering Asthma with Complementary Treatments
Metabolic Imbalances
One of the primary causes of metabolic imbalance is the toxicity resulting from the body's inability to rid itself of metabolic waste products.
To correct metabolic imbalances in asthmatics, it is important to facilitate the excretion and elimination of metabolic waste and toxins from the body. Exercise and diet are important, as is clearing food allergies and avoiding highly toxic food such as alcohol, caffeine, and excess salt.
Caring for the Skin
Skin brushing is one method for helping the skin detoxify. Using a firm, hard vegetable brush, brush your skin vigorously for five minutes before you take a shower in the morning.
Keeping the Liver Healthy
Many factors contribute to liver toxification: drug reactions, pesticides, hormones, inhaled toxic substances, food allergies, and genetic disposition.
There are many good liver detoxification programs that employ supplements and nutrients.
Dealing with Emotional or Psychosomatic Factors
Stress is another important factor in the incidence of asthma. The best way to manage stress and avoid the physical consequences that often ensue is to strengthen the immune system and overall health.
Food Sensitivities and Allergies
Since most asthmatics are highly sensitive to refined sugars, I recommend a limited intake of refined carbohydrates, preferable are the complex, slow-digesting carbs. I recommend enzyme therapy to help support the digestion of sugars, enzymes for relieving nasal congestion, and enzymes to support the liver for decreasing toxicity.
To accurately identify food allergies, it is always important for both the patient and the health care practitioner to act as detectives. Asthmatics need to become more aware which of the substances they ingest and are bombarded with in their daily lives provoke reactions.
Problem Foods
Dairy products are highly mucus forming, as are foods like apple juice, bananas, and chocolate. I suggest avoiding these foods until your allergies are cleared, and then slowly adding them back into the diet. Since both pesticides and hormones can cause problems for asthmatics, I recommend eating organically grown fruits, vegetables, and grains and organically raised, hormone-free meats as much as possible.
Asthmatics should know what they are eating, where it comes from, how it is cooked, and what it is cooked with. Otherwise, cooking at home from scratch is probably the safest approach until most allergens are cleared.
BioSET™ (Bioenergetic Sensitivity and Enzyme Therapy) is a natural holistic healthcare system that is based on energetic medicine and meridian therapy to prevent and resolve chronic health conditions.
BioSET™ is comprised of three branches of healing: enzyme therapy, nutrition and proper diet; organ specific detoxification; and a revolutionary non-invasive mostly permanent allergy desensitization technique.
BioSET™ was developed by Dr. Ellen Cutler to naturally resolve chronic health conditions such as asthma through meridian balancing; enhanced digestion and desensitization of any allergen.
What are the allergies that cause asthma and how does one control these allergies, and conquer asthma.
Common allergies that cause asthma are: Cow’s milk, various nuts, corn, seeds, soy & soy products, wheat, and citrus fruits, chocolate, coffee, caffeine, most grains, spices, yeast products, alcohol, baking powder, baking soda, gum mix, and tomatoes, onions, peppers, potatoes and vegetables from the nightshade family.
Taking a digestive enzyme
A digestive enzyme with foods can relieve most food allergies. Many other food allergies can be cleared with the BioSET method; removing these foods from your diet; or rotating these foods. The BioSET method can be done at home on yourself, your family and your children. Read The Food Allergy Cure for details.
Limit use of sulfites, such as BHA, BHT, sodium benzoine, sodium nitrate, sodium sulfate, tartrazine, and food dyes.
.Try to eat fresh foods with less processing and packaging, and look for organic food when available.
Other allergens to avoid:
- Pollens, trees, dust, grasses, weeds & shrubs
- Medications
- Fabrics
- Smoke, tobacco smoke,
- Perfumes
- Animal Dander, dogs,horses
- Molds
Asthmatics are usually highly allergic to animals. especially cats. It is recommended to look into more non-allergic dogs or animals for pets.
Occupational allergens include
- Gas station - gas fumes, chemicals, gas,& diesel exhaust
- Painter - paints, chemicals, other work materials
- Hair salon - hair dyes
- Photographer - photographic chemicals
- Detergent factories - chemicals that remove stains
- Artists - adhesives, epoxy resins
- Bakers - dyes, flour, and corn starch
- Cannery - bleaches, chrome, fish parts, foods, and oils/li]
- Carpenters - adhesives, exotic wood, plastics, fiberglass, and varnishes
- Chemists - antibiotics, formalines, acids, and ammonia
- Florists - mold
- Gardeners - dried pots, pollen, fertilizers, and mulch
- Garment workers - cotton, nylon, acrylic, polyester, feathers, formalines, and solvents
Of course,it is difficult to avoid these substances if your occupation involves working with them. But what you can do is to improve your immune system by eating well, taking digestive enzymes to reduce your allergic load, and use a mask if possible
Check your water supply. Organophosphates, chlorinated hydrocarbons, botanicals and chemical sterilants can leak into springs and city water supplies. It is best to either drink bottled water or buy a food water filtering system. If you or your child is an asthmatic, it is highly advisable to also purchase a shower filter. Remember what is contacted through the skin is immediately diffused into your blood and can trigger an asthma attack. This also includes creams, sun screens and cosmetics. Learn about natural products, this can make a big difference immediately. Cosmetics and toiletries contain about 8,000 chemicals, many of which have not been tested by the FDA.
Washing fruits & vegetables is not an effective way to get rid of the pesticides. Consider washing them in natural products such as grapefruit extract and borax.
Gastric reflux
Gastric reflux is the regurgitation of food or acid from the stomach, and can commonly trigger an asthmatic attack. Food allergies, eating excessive amounts of food, poor digestion and eating too fast can be a factor. Taking a digestive enzyme before meals can help relieve this. Take a gastric enzyme after or in between meals when needed for relief. GERD is very common and easily remedied.
