Sun Screen

I have always been suspicious of sunscreens and the claims they make.  Well there were lawsuits filed today that accuse sunscreen makers of exposing many millions of people to possible danger from the sun due to the false claims made by the products.  You mean they may not be protecting us?

That seems to be the case.  Ths suit specifically focuses on labels that say they are effective agains the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays, and also to some being waterproof.  The suit does say that  parents have been misled for products aimed at children's protection

I have always wondered about the safety of the chemicals in sunscreen.

The rising rate of skin cancer has put using sunblock right up one of our regular habits, it is common procedure before leaving the house for many. And  makeups, and lotions have sunscreen inherent in their product.    In 2002, 50 percent– approximately 1.1 million cases–of all cancers in the United States were skin cancers, of which nearly 10,000 cases were fatal. It is easy to understand why many people have become fearful of the sun.    I love the sun, and perhaps there are other natural, common sense things to do to protect yourself. Just a thought.

However, it is not commonly appreciated, that the food you eat may be as important to the development of skin cancers than sun exposure.  We are eating plenty of processed foods rather than raw organic fruits and vegetables that have those antioxidants.  Protecting yourself with other naturalwholesome foods may be the answer.

Two years ago, the prestigious National Academy of Sciences published a comprehensive review showing that the omega 6:3 ratio was the key to preventing skin cancer development. Fish oils and flax seed oil, borage oil, walnuts  are concentrated foods with omega 3.

Check out  http://www.mercola.com/index.htm for more information on some products and more information on this subject.

Protease the enzyme has also been helpful for protecting against the sun's rays.

Don't get sunburned, that is dangerous and potentially harmful.  And stay out of the sun during the most direct sunlight.

Memory and Enzymes

Do you forget where you put something?
Do you lose things more often these days?
Is your recollection of facts not good these days?

Memory is a common area of frustration as we get older. Although many people report memory problems their whole life. And they have spent countless of dollars exploring techniques to improve their memory. This also includes supplements and drinks and tapes.
I have seen food allergies to be contributing , low thyroid, vitamin deficiency and/or eating too many processed foods.

some of my recommendations include yoga, and other aerobic exercise. Improving circulation is key!! meditation, eating wholesome raw organic food, lots of bright colors to supply those antioxidants and chlorophyll. And one enzyme that really stands out is a circulation enzyme. this has vitamin C, vitamin E, collinsonia root, horse chestnut grapeseed extract, gotu kola, ginkgo biloba bilberry fruit, butcher’s broom and quercetin combined with protease enzyme. It improves circulation, brain power, vascular integrity, and even does wonders with sexual libido. Fantastic enzyme formula. I love it. But if you are having surgery - don’t take this enzyme about 10 days prior, or may cause excessive bruising.
Otherwise try it, really can bring back that brain power and may help slow down this steadily decline in memory as we age.

Do you feel achy in the morning- it isn’t only arthritis

Many people especially over the age of 45 complain of achy joints, some when they awake in the morning, others throughout the day.  It can be annoying, and pose some limitations  in activity, depending of course the severity and how extensive it may be.

Now everyone has arthritis by the time  they are 55 years old.  Gravity in of of itself  is often the culprit.  But why do some people complain of pain and stiffness  and others never do.  It is all about INFLAMMATION.  Those individuals who have pain are suffering from inflammation which is usually systemic.  I have written about this in most of my books, but inflammation is a result of something going haywire with the immune system and it starts attacking our own joint tissue with immune mediators and white blood cells and granular tissue.  This results in swelling, redness, edema and pain.  Why does the immune system do this.  I believe a huge part of it is food allergies, resulting from undigested food, poor food choices (especially sugar, grains, salt, alcohol, sodas).  Diet is key.

More raw food is helpful

Eat less red meat, and remember to take a digestive enzyme w/ animal protein.

take a digestive enzyme everytime you eat to reduce food sensitivities.

take protease - anti-inflammatory.

Eat one raw meal a day.

Plan a detox program.  I am doing one right now.  And I can post this detox diet for everyone.  Really helpful.

CUT OUT THE GRAINS AND SUGARS AND DIET SODAS.

high school event

My daughter who is a sophomore in high school shared with me the event that took place in her school today. It was a staged fatal car accident caused by drunk teenage driver. As she shared with me the events of the day, my heart began to race and i could hardly breathe. It was so real and so frightening. My daughter, just got her drivers license and although I love the freedom, I have trepidations about it all. Fortunately for one year, they are not allowed to take anyone in the car that is not over 25. Although I wish she wasn’t driving alone all the time, I am grateful for this law.
i can’t think of any other way that brings the tragic and horrific nature of this event to life then what took place today.
here is the site for you to view. I know they ask for donations of which I will give. My daughter mentioned to me that as soon as she drove to school today and walked into the parking lot, she saw the scene of the accident and the police, fireman, the staged victims , stretchers, and even a helicopter. Quite intense and real like nothing she had ever experienced. I do think it continues tomorrow.

Aspartame- not a health food

If it  says "SUGAR FREE," on the label, or on the label is equal or nutrasweet.  Stay away !!

It has been found that aspartame, may mimic the symptoms of multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus, fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivity and more.

Aspartame is so dangerous: When the temperature of this
sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to
formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic  acidosis. (Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants.) The methanol toxicity can cause multiple symptoms, from severe headaches, to muscle aches, numbness and fatigue.  Methanol toxicity is dangerous .  I have spoken to patients that drink diet sodas all day long, three, four a day w/ caffeine.  This is serious.  I have seen patients over the years become asymptomatic after going off diet sodas.
I had seen a case where their tinnitus, (ringing in the ear) was resolved after going off diet sodas.
If you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred
vision, or memory loss- and you are drinking diet sodas or using equal or nutrisweet, then you may have  ASPARTAME DISEASE
Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics.  I have read  that physicians
would think  that they had a patient with retinopathy, when in fact the
symptoms were  caused by aspartame. The aspartame drives the blood sugar out of
control and causes you to crave more sugar and more food.  It actually can cause one to overeat.

Diabetics may suffer acute memory loss due to the fact that aspartic acid and phenylalanine are neurotoxic without the other amino acids found in protein. Thus the aspartame  passes the blood brain barrier and can cause damage to the brain.  It can cause  diabetics (as well as in patients not
suffering from diabetes) various kinds of  depression,  panic attacks, rage, and in some cases violence.
Some doctors  warns that it can cause birth defects i.e. mental retardation if
taken at the time of conception and early pregnancy. Children are especially
at risk for neurological problems  and should NOT be given NutraSweet.

READ LABELS.  Use the pure product.  Say away from artifical sweeteners, food additives and dyes.  i have seen them play havoc for individuals.  And especially dangerous to ADHD children, asthmatics and eczema.

sinus infection

My daughter mentioned to me this afternoon that one of her swim mates had a severe sinus infection and it has been going on for quite sometime. She has been on every antibiotic you can name. And yet she sounds more congested, feels worse and is frustrated. i said to my daugther, this is where enzymes can be profoundly successful.
With sinus infection, i firstly have them remove all foods that are yeast or fungus provoking, because chronic sinus infection is usually a systemic yeast problem. So remove from the diet, grains, sugars, dairy, cream, vinegar, and alcohol. (which hopefull a young person will not be indulging in). And eat more protein, vegetables, fruit, beans, nuts
Take a digestive enzyme before each meal (carbohydrate enzyme is probably the best)
Take protease (an enzyme that is a great antiinflammatory, antibacterial and immune booster) at least every hour.
Take a probiotic, (lactobacillus, bifidobacillus ) at least twice a day.
Take a vitamin C enzyme blend at least 4 times a day.
This is my recipe for sinus infection. Again diet is key and protease is a miracle

Kids drinking less soda

I am happy to report that for the first time in 20 years, the amount of soda in the United states has dropped.  I think this has occured due in part to soda's contribution to the obesity problem among the teens and children here in the United States.  Soda is the number one source for calories.  The amount of high fructose corn syrup in these soft drinks is remarkable

A single 12-ounce can of soda has as much as 13 teaspoons of sugar in the form of high fructose corn syrup. In 2001, we consumed almost 63 pounds of high fructose corn syrup, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

And soda will deplete some minerals predisposing young children to fractures and sprains and strains.  Fruit juices are not a great alternative unless you dilute the juices.  They are also packed with fructose causing weight gain.

Water is the best alternative.  Start your child on water early -as an infant- and then they will desire the water instead of sugars.  Too much sugar can cause weight issues, but also focusing problems, behavior problems and a weak immune system.  These sugar snacks inthe form of beverages or other goodies are empty calories.  While the child is filling up with sugar, their body is deprived of real nutrition.  And in order to concentrate, perform at school or in sports, they need good nutrition.  So don't let them fill themselves up on these calories.  It is battle in which no one wins.

And please don't let them smoke !!!

Meditation

I began reading Dr. Wayne Dyer’s new book today, Inspiration , Your Ultimate Calling.
And he mentions awakening at 3:30 a.m and meditating. This can be our most intimate time with the Universal Spirit and Pure Consciousness. I did this the other day, and it was quite extraordinary. I thought that morning,- that our children who suffer ADHD and hyperactivity and aggressiveness should learn meditation. This could be their channel to let go of these tendencies and feel the other side of the contracted emotional state. They could learn how to become witness to these emotional upheavals and see how they are much more than that. Theycan learn to be free from these ups and downs. Their body may go through these gestures but their emotional and spiritual alignment is with a spirit that loves unconditional, they serves unconditional and that knows how to be in life unconditionally.
I love reading Wayne Dyer, because he says it like i feel it and reminds me of the bigger picture. I read these kind of books when i work out early in the morning. It inspires me for the day and brings a real smile on my face. Thank you wayne for these books of reminders.
One thing I read this a.m which was profound . Do something good for someone today. go out of your way and do something good- whether it is calling your mother and telling her you love her, or opening a door for someone, or hugging that person or being a listener - be open to doing something beyond the ordinary normal day activities. it will open your heart to the spirit of life and who we really are as spiritual beings in a body.
I know how to love and be loved. I feel very lucky.

what about weight gain

I know I am usually referring to weight loss, but I often forget about speaking to those individuals who have trouble gaining weight.  Some have had this their whole life.  I know it is hard.

The condition is really directed at absorption of nutrients, - which is what usually worries these individuals.  They eat and eat, but nothing changes.  They still often look emaciated.

I have not particulary in favor of eating often (every hour or even every two hours) and eating great amounts of food.  This is not really the answer.  Eating three meals a day is usually sufficient for most people and eating wholesome foods, organic, lots of raw and taking the right enzymes is critical. Usually these people do well with a fat digestive enzyme taken with meals - on the first bite usually and taking a good nutritive enzyme multimineral formula.  If they really need to put on weight, drinking a whey protein powder drink or for vegetarians, a rice protein with fruit and other ingredients such as green powder and flax can be effective. Again take the enzymes before you eat so that you absorb the nutrients and utilize the calories.

Designer babies

My daughter was writing a paper on “designer babies” for her science class. It was chilling to read the paper. I was really unaware of the tests that now can be performed to determine genetic traits, with the desire to have certain traits for one’s offspring. Whew!! it really is happening. Will we eventually just have smart, beautifully balanced, healthy kids and adults. I suppose I should feel good about this. I like smart, healthy kids, but is just makes me feel uneasy. Does it make you feel uneasy?.

And on the other hand, I am seriously worried about the “bird flu” and the consequences of this pandemic. This could wipe out millions of people- I want to find something i can do to help protect people from this. I have read about collidal silver, some herbs, and some other complimentary medicines. But nobody really knows at this point.

If anyone has knowledge they would like to share, please let me know. In the meantime, I will continue researching.
